About Capital Compactors

Capital Compactors designs, builds, installs and services waste compactors and recycling balers for businesses across the UK. Founded in 2000, we joined Impact Environmental Group in 2023.

Our story

Alistair and Jo Lindsay founded Capital Compactors in March 2000 with one ambition: to become the UK’s leading supplier of top-quality waste compaction and recycling machinery.

More than two decades on, that ambition runs through the business, from a purpose-built factory in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, to a nationwide team of our own field service engineers. Our machines work in distribution centres, retail and hospitality sites, factories and busy public spaces up and down the country.

In 2023 Capital became part of Impact Environmental Group (IEG), alongside Taylor, Duraflex and UK Container Maintenance. Our team stayed in place, and customers can now come to one group for bins, wear parts, servicing, compactors and balers.

Everything from one team

We look after a machine from the first site survey to its last service visit.

Design

Our in-house design and technical team visits sites and produces detailed 3D drawings, so each machine suits its loading area, its waste stream and the people who use it.

Manufacture

Compactors and balers are built at our factory in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, one of the largest and most modern facilities of its kind in the UK.

Installation

Our engineers deliver, install and commission every machine, plan each job with risk assessments and method statements, and train your staff on site.

Servicing

In-house engineers maintain our own machines and other makes nationwide, with next-day call-outs and seven-day cover available.

Buy, lease or rent

Machines are available to buy outright, lease or rent, with fully factory-refurbished equipment as well as new.

Safety first

Capital achieved ISO 45001 accreditation for occupational health and safety management, and our engineers work to strict site safety procedures.

What we make and do

Servicing

Planned maintenance, repairs and compliance records from our own engineers.

Manufacturing

Designed and built in the UK at our Barnsley factory.

Bespoke solutions

Trusted on busy sites

Capital machines handle waste for household names. Recent projects include a fully automatic baler at JD Wetherspoon’s Rugby distribution centre, a CHB45 semi-automatic baler for Selfridges in Birmingham, a conveyor-fed baler for The Wine Society in Stevenage and a replacement compactor at Clapham Junction station, installed with Mitie.

We also work closely with waste management companies, from national operators to regional contractors, supplying and maintaining the equipment their customers rely on.
